About this event

The Buckeye Trail . . .

For nearly 1447 miles, the Buckeye Trail winds around Ohio, reaching into every corner of the state. From a beachhead on Lake Erie near Cleveland, to a hilltop overlooking the Ohio River in Cincinnati, a hiker can experience a little of all that Ohio has to offer.

First envisioned in the late 1950's as a trail from the Ohio River to Lake Erie, the Buckeye Trail evolved into a large loop, branching both north and east from Cincinnati. The separate legs rejoin in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park near Cleveland, and complete the trip to the lake. Because it is a loop, it is also in essence, endless. You may start a hike at any point and hike as long as you want without ever reaching an end! The Buckeye Trail encompasses both routes thru parks and along roadways, so be prepared for both conditions - we will try to let you know what to expect in the hike descriptions.

I always wanted to hike the Buckeye Trail, so let’s do it together! For the rest of 2026, we will be hiking the Caesar Creek Section once a month on a Saturday.

COME FOLLOW THE BLUE BLAZES

Caesar Creek Point 16 to Point 19

10.1 miles

We will meet at the Yellow Springs Station Trailhead (parking is available south of the depot), then will carpool to Xenia Station to begin our 10.1 mile hike back to Yellow Springs Station. Afterwards we will go to Sunrise Cafe for a bite to eat. Make sure you bring plenty of water and trail snacks!

Hike will begin in along the Little Miami Scenic Bike Path.

Sunrise Cafe- 259 Xenia Ave, Yellow Springs, OH 45387

The Buckeye Trail is a mix of Bike Path, Road, and natural surfaces - wear bright colors or a vest for road walk. Please make sure you are at the right fitness level for the length and difficulty rating listed below.

A note about Carpooling/Shuttling: In order to cover more miles on the Buckeye Trail, we will all meet at the end point of our hike, then we will carpool with one of the trail leader's car and a volunteer hiker's car if we have more than 5 people total on the hike. Then, at the end of the hike, the second trail leader will shuttle the carpool drivers back to the starting point to pick up their cars (the shuttle back to the starting point will happen immediately following the hike, before proceeding to the social venue.)
